“Osama bin Laden Charges Dropped After Al Qaeda Leader’s Death

By RANDY KREIDER
June 17, 2011
“Osama bin Laden is in the clear. Federal prosecutors have elected to drop hundreds of criminal charges against the al Qaeda leader and architect of the 9/11 terror attacks because he will be unable to appear in court to answer them.

From the Left Coast, my good friend Bob (silfox). Despite his current location, Bob grew up in Indiana so he’s allowed to pronounce upon farmers. He comes up with the best stuff, and this is a good example.

Bob says, “Paul Harvey at his finest.”

This men’s a Capella group was started at Indiana University in 1999. I think that you will enjoy their version of A Lion Sleeps Tonight. Last December, I posted their Christmas Can-Can medley.

What do you think?

A short, 64 year old female high school teacher was accused of child abuse for punching an aggressive teenage boy who was defying her instructions and physically pushing her around the classroom.

Fortunately it was captured on a student’s cellphone. Please see the video and the story here. The charges have been dropped.

The teacher was recently nominated by the students for a teacher of the year award. I would also cite her for an award. She should get some brass knuckles.

From WGNTV.com:

“Investigators are looking into whether a switching error led to a low-speed collision between a Metra train and an Amtrak train at Union Station that injured at least 12 people, none of them seriously, officials said.

“One railroad source said both trains were moving when at least two cars of the Burlington Northern express from Aurora struck the Amtrak train bound for Carbondale around 8:30 a.m. The source said the investigation will focus on possible errors related to the switching of the trains. The collision occurred at the south end of the station, where there are many track switches in the yard, the source said.”

I went to high school in Aurora, and for school holidays I rode the Burlington Northern into Union Station in Chicago. The last time I rode it was 46 years ago. In fact, we graduated that number of years ago this week. Well, if 46 years is the best they can do for not having a collision, it will be another 46 years before I ride the train from Aurora to Chicago!

The trains were each going about 5 miles per hour.

I have admired Gary Sinese’s acting for several years. He played Lt. Dan in Forest Gump with great sensitivity and power.

Now, he has given his Uncle a very remarkable Memorial Day, documented in this video.

I got this from my very good friend Paul. We went to a military boy’s high school near Aurora, Il, a few years ago.

For some reason, I can’t load the video into the blog as I usually do, so please click here.

Three Hastings (NZ) schoolboys rescued a 12-year-old girl by threatening to attack two men who were trying to drag her away.

“The other boys told them that if they didn’t go away right now they would get a hiding,” Hastings Boys’ High School pupil Liam Mataira, 15, said yesterday, describing the rescue he had made with friends Ben Hayllar and Tama McKenzie.

We are still in a search-and-rescue mode,” said Mark Rohr, Joplin’s city manager. “I want to emphasize that.

Missy Epperson heads a team of 13 volunteers and rescue dogs from Illinois. She also searched for victims at World Trade Center after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans in 2005.

“This is Katrina without the water,” Epperson told CBS News correspondent Don Teague.

Missy (we wouldn’t make up a name like that) might have also said:

“This is the Titanic without the iceberg.”

Or

“This is 9/11 without the jet planes.”

Or

“This is World War II without the Germans.”

Or

“This is Watergate without Richard Nixon.”

(Well, maybe not the last one.)
