Absurd May 1, 2008

ExxonMobil said on Thursday that the oil crisis helped its first-quarter profit climb 17% to $10.9 billion. That’s the second biggest U.S. quarterly corporate profit. Ever.

But the results still fell short of Wall Street’s lofty forecasts, and ExxonMobil’s stock price fell.

This story is absurd on many levels!

So, while we’re at it, here’s a little poem for my poetry-less friends who easily get stewed:

     I never saw a purple cow
     I never hope to see one;
     But I can tell you, anyhow,
     I’d rather see than be one!
                   Gelett Burgess, 1895

Man that poem was lame. Here’s a great one I just made up:

Starry Stewy Night,
Luscious boys in dancing tights
Tell me yeddas and I might
Wreck the buffet at the Harroll Club

wait…
