Travels March 24, 2008

My adult kids (three sons and a daughter) are visiting Orlando this week, so I plan to drive the couple of hours on Friday to have dinner with them.  I would have gone earlier except that some unfriendly persons also joined the trip.

Speaking of trips, US Airways announced that one of their pilots who carries a gun in the cockpit had his gun “discharge” during a Denver to Charlotte NC flight.  The  Transportation Security Agency (TSA) (which also stands for The Silly Agency) said the airplane was never in danger, and the TSA and the Federal Air Marshals Service are investigating the incident.

They ALWAYS say that!  Shooting a gun off in the cockpit of a jet flying above 35,000 feet – full of passengers and fuel – presents no danger?!  Then why have the gun at all?

Oh, well.  At least now I understand why they put bullet proof doors on the cockpit.
