Joyous News October 19, 2007

My son John took my daughter-in-law Tina to the hospital near their Navy housing in Hawaii at 11:00 pm last night. They dropped my grandaughter Ciara with great neighbor friends, for the three-year-old to spend the night with their same aged daughters and to go to school with them today. Tina was in labor for 11 hours, and delivered Jack Aidan at 6 pounds 12 ounces around 1 pm.

Mother and son are doing very well, and John (who is dancing a jig) is presently retrieving Ciara so that she can go meet her brother.

This Grandpa really wants to be in Hawaii!

More good news: Father John Foley was a guest at my wedding some 37 years ago in a Philadelphia suburb. Today, he was named one of the archbishops who will be elevated to Cardinal next month by Pope Benedict. I last saw him about five years ago, when he said Mass for four of us of the family in his hotel room at the Hilton in Philly.

I wish I could go to Rome, too.

Yes, we’re blessed with good news!
