A Really Inconvenient Truth June 9, 2007

Posted by gregquill in Uncategorized.

Remember the great idea to build ocean reefs out of used tires? It was 1972, and the idea would protect coral reefs, provide shelter for little fishes, and stop beach erosion. Plus getting rid of tires, which is otherwise hard to do. Environmentalists in New England said it worked great, and the Army Corps of Engineers and Broward County, FL, gave permits and active support to building a huge tire reef off Fort Lauderdale.

Turns out the tires kill coral, crush the reef, seal the ocean floor to prevent life, and they move around with the currents to continue the destruction.

Al Gore, the Inconvenient Truth Global Warming guru who has assessed Earth in the Balance by his Assault on Reason, surely knows which politician was behind this debacle.

On behalf of loyal Hasty Ruminations readers, I have a call in to Mr. Gore’s Global Warming show house to ask him some questions.  I hope to hear from him today.

Just go about your business while I sit here by the phone.

No word yet. I’d record a status message on my phone, but I don’t want to tie up the line.
