Making It Up As We Go April 19, 2007

Today, Senator Arlen Specter told the Attorney General he faces the equivalent of a “reconfirmation hearing.” Republican to Republican.
Never mind that there is no such thing in the Constitution. If Specter can make it up as he goes along, why can’t we?

Wolfowitz is in trouble, too. And Cheney, who lost the “Scooter” trial, the War on Terror and his temper on the floor of the Senate when he told Senator Leahy to go “f—” himself, is not exactly a symbol of strength anymore.

So, it’s time for a reorganization:

Wolfowitz moves to Pennsylvania, and gets appointed by the Governor to replace Specter who goes to the White House as the new VP, while Cheney resigns (as an elected guy) to become attorney general, and Gonzalez goes to the World Bank.

It will be interesting to see if Senator Leahy has any special questions for the former VP at his confirmation hearings, and it will be interesting to put Specter in national politics right before the Democrats do a dance on the Republicans in 2008. And Gonzalez will fit right in at the World Bank, where they are now used to folks who stretch the truth. And Wolfowitz? He will keep Leahy confused during the hearings. Not a hard job, we are told.

So, as Clouseau said, “The case is solve – ed.”

What’s next?
