Goodbye, BC April 9, 2007

Johnny Hart, the creator of the comic strips BC and The Wizard of ID, died on Saturday of Easter weekend.  He was 76. I appreciated the Christian messages he wrote in the strips.

This one was controversial.  (Click here for a copy which can be enlarged by double clicking:  www.hollywoodjesus.com/BCcomics_easter.htm.)

Some criticized it as destroying the menorah for the cross, i.e., replacing Judaism with Christianity.  But, to me it brings Christ’s real message on this subject to Easter: “I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.”

I saw that one and it didn’t bother me at all, but I do see how Jewish people could be offended.

I didn’t know he died either.
