… on 9/11/2001?

I was working in Glendale, Ca, on a pharmaceutical engineering contract. I watched the second attack on TV from my hotel room (6:07 am PST), on the phone to my wife. She was wishing me happy birthday, and I was wishing her our happy 31st wedding anniversary.

Where were you?

I was home getting ready for work and had the TV on as I always do listening to the Today show. I sat there horrified watching the second plane flying into the second tower. Today brings back bad memories for myself. My ex-husband (he was not my ex then) who is a pilot was out of town (in Las Vegas) and due to return that day. I tried unsuccessfully all morning to reach him. Finally I couldn’t take it any more the unknowing. I called his work and found out he had called there 3 times. He was safe and still in Las Vegas. The secretary asked if I wanted her to call him and ask that he call me. I said no. I had my answer. I felt that if he couldn’t think enough about me to call me and let me know he was safe then fuck him. I was on my own as usual. This was just typical of his behaviour and unfortunately after that incident, I began to do a lot of thinking and soul searching and questioning myself why I was there?, realizing I was not his #1. priority, thinking I have lived like this for 30 years, I could live for 30 more years and I did not want to live like this anymore. He finally got around to calling me around 7 that night.
