This presidential election cycle will never end.
It will take more decisiveness to end it than the non-starter $700 billion giveaway on Wall Street, such as:
Step 1: Replace Sarah Palin with either Mitt Romney or Amy Winehouse.
Step 2: Elect the President separately from the Vice President.
Step 3: Get W back to Texas, right away, and out of power. Change the inauguration to Thanksgiving Saturday. Or change the election to Halloween, with the swearing-in at midnight. Unless McCain wins and then swear him in whenever he wakes up.
I cannot stand one more explanation of the Bridge to Nowhere, how Obama got House Republicans to torpedo Bush’s gift to Wall Street, or how Treasury Secretary Paulson really understands derivatives. (Have some fun – Google “Paulson failure” and see the month-by-month list!)
At least one can hope that waterboarding will end. But not this.

I woke early this morning,
The earth lay cool and still,
When suddenly a tiny bird
Perched upon my window sill.
He sang a song so lovely,
So carefree and so gay,
That slowly all my troubles
Began to slip away.
He sang of far off places,
Of laughter and of fun,
It seemed his very trilling
Brought up the morning sun.
I stirred beneath the covers,
Gathered up some of my things,
Then quickly shut the window,
And pinched his little wings.

Almost 2,000 rescued in Galveston area
“The largest search-and-rescue operation in Texas history is under way with rescuers combing swamped streets and rubble left behind by Hurricane Ike. Nearly 2,000 people have been brought to safety from dangerous situations in the storm’s aftermath. “
Those who stayed behind were warned: they faced “certain death”. Well, Texas – the state which leads the nation in prisoner executions – will now carry out that sentence.
Those who thumbed their noses at the warnings thought the cautions were about the storm? Ha! These government good ol’ boys are laughin’ all the way to the ammo counter at Wal*Mart!

According to CNN, Sen. Barack Obama’s spokesman on Saturday accused Sen. John McCain of “cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern presidential campaign history.”
We’ve seen that. “The last month, for sure, I think the predominance of liberty taken with truth and the facts has been more McCain than Obama,” said Don Sipple, a Republican advertising strategist. Even Karl Rove is criticizing them, both of them.
McCain has been called out by FactCheck.org. The group has cried foul on McCain’s campaign more than twice as often since the political conventions as it has on Obama’s.
So much for the Naval Academy’s Honor Concept.
McCain apparently didn’t learn that there, either.

Here is another story about tasers, and how the cops use them to punish people:
Naked dog walker Tasered in Tallahassee
Associated Press – September 13, 2008 2:04 PM ET
“TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – A 40-year-old man walking his dog in the nude was Tasered by police when he refused to follow an officer’s commands.
“David McCranie of the Tallahassee Police Department says an officer on patrol spotted the man shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
“The man was asked what he was doing and told the officer, “Allah told me to watch a Bruce Willis movie and walk the dog,” McCranie said.
“McCranie said using the Taser was the only way to subdue the man without having to hurt him. The man was then sent for mental-health evaluation and treatment.”

There is nothing to indicate why this nut case had to be subdued. No weapon, no threat, he apparently refused to obey some secret, non-reported commands by the cop, so the cop decided to punish him. And of course these thousands of volts didn’t “hurt ” the guy; that’s why he was sent for treatment!
Why don’t we just issue bullwhips to the cops?!
Previous cases include these: An Arizona officer shocked a 9-year-old girl handcuffed in a patrol car because the runaway from a children’s psychiatric center was “screaming, kicking, flailing and would not listen,” according to a police report.
In Colorado, some incidents of police Taser abuse amount to “deliberate torture.” A man handcuffed in a patrol car was shocked in the genitals by an officer whose report confirmed that he administered what he called “a drive stun to the groin area.”
We have to take control of the tasers, since the cops can’t control them. And fire vigilante cops.
